Pumpkin Palooza is back for a second year and we need your help!

Fill out the form below to apply to be a volunteer at our Trunk or Treat at our Pumpkin Palooza event.

Volunteering involves decorating your car and bringing candy/treats to pass out for trick-or-treaters.

About the Event:

Last year's Pumpkin Palooza festival brought in over 600 patrons to the library—including many festive trick-or-treaters. We anticipate a similarly enthusiastic crowd this year! The evening is packed full of fall fun including a movie, face painting, games—and of course the main event: a community-run Trunk-or-Treat!

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Anyone aged 13+ is welcome to volunteer!
    • Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire event.
    • Volunteers 16+ may attend alone as long as they are responsible for their own vehicle.
    • Teens are welcome to run a booth for Beta Club hours.
  • Volunteers must bring their own decorated vehicle
    • You may arrive as early as 4:30pm to begin set up. Please arrive no later than 5:30pm. Volunteers are committing to stay until 8:15pm and will not be able to move their vehicles before this time due to safety concerns.
    • Decorations should be all-ages appropriate. No blood/gore or "scary" vehicles please, as there will be young children at this event.
      • Some of our most popular vehicles last year were themed after It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Jurassic Park and Trolls. Creativity is welcomed!
      • Don't feel pressure to be elaborate, simple and heartfelt decor can be just as festive!
    • Please note the Library cannot provide power for your vehicle/decorations
    • Each vehicle will be provided one standard-sized parking space to set up in.
  • Volunteers must bring their own treats for 600 Trick-or-Treaters
    • Treats should be prepackaged, no homemade goods will be permitted.
    • If you would like to pass out multiple treats per child, please plan accordingly.
    • It is recommended that treats be candy or a snack.
    • No "treats" with organization logos or slogans will be permitted.
      • Ex. No campaign stickers
  • For Volunteers representing organizations:
    • Please note: Pumpkin Palooza is a family-oriented, celebratory event—just a fun way to give back to the community!
    • We greatly appreciate the participation of community organizations to help make this event a success for the community. We appreciate our volunteers' cooperation in making this a welcoming event for all. Because of this, we ask that no promotional materials be passed out.
    • Vehicles representing an organization are welcome to have a small sign with their organization name or logo posted. However, their decorations should be fall/Halloween themed, and not themed around their organizations. Please do not bring any flyers, brochures, etc.
    • Please wait for patron-initiated conversations to talk about your organization. For example, if a patron asks about your services you are welcome to share with them. We ask that organizations do not initiate conversations to respect the boundaries of each patron.

Any vehicle not fitting within these guidelines may be asked to leave. If you have any questions about what might be the best fit for Pumpkin Palooza, contact Tammy at tammyf@oldhampl.org. If you are representing an organization, please indicate so in the "Notes/Comments" section of the volunteer registration form.

Thank you for giving back to your community!
