Teen Summer Reading Program

We're Not Through the Woods Just Yet...

Camp Cryptid is an event from “the before times” where we celebrated our favorite folklore creatures (like Bigfoot, Mothman, and Nessie) and the storytelling traditions that brought these questionable critters to life (kind of). You can’t go to camp, so we’re sending our favorite spooky camp to all of you mythical creatures until we get to hang out again in person.
Join us for OCPL Teen Summer Reading 2021. Read books. Win prizes. Make stuff. Stay spooky.

Not-Awful Things To Do

The Teen Summer Reading program isn't just about reading and winning prizes. It's about having things to do. Try out some of these not-awful options:

Teen Crates

A mail-order crate full of themed crafts, activities, snacks, and maybe prizes sent directly to you (for free)! Sign up for EACH crate (registration opens the last week of the month). Announcements / sign-up links will be posted here when live.

Be A Good Plant Parent

Kaitlyn from Plant One on Me, in conjunction with the teen department, will be hosting an hour and half webinar on how to be a good plant parent. This event will be presented live to registered teen participants. After the event, a video on demand will be available to all ages! Teen only registration will open soon!

Virtual Book Club

Join Kirsten and James to discuss books on the teen Discord Server. We’ll provide copies of the books to pick up at your library of choice. You’re encouraged to finish reading / listening to the book before the meeting, but "almost finished" and watching the movie are also okay as long as you’re excited to discuss!

Teen Writers' Group

Love writing? Want to share your work while being inspired by other teen writers? OR: love the idea of writing, but not sure where to begin? Join Kirsten on Discord for the Teen Writers Group starting this summer! Sign ups are open now! Email kirstens@oldhampl.org for more information.

Discord Server

Discord is like a chatroom / virtual meeting space that we have full control over to ensure it stays safe, civil, and ex-clusive to our locals. If you are interested in joining, email James at jamesf@oldhampl.org Check us out if you're already familiar with Discord or ask your parents about joining us!
