Outreach is looking for a library assistant who can staff the new Digital Media Lab in the Main Library. This applicant will need to be able to work independently and assist patrons with a variety of projects and technical elements. Part of the job will be working to create library digital content when the lab is not in use, and providing assistance to patrons using the public computers. The position requires understanding of the overall functions and workflow of the library, and a general understanding of technology. Proficiency with Macs, Microsoft office, and editing software (Final Cut Pro, Audacity, Photoshop) is a plus, but key to this position is a willingness to learn and experiment. Training will be provided for all lab components and duties. Carries out Library Assistant duties and responsibilities, as required.
Position: part-time (20.50 hours – Tues-Thursday, 3:45-8:15, Saturdays 9:30-4:30pm.)

Education, Training and Experience:
The minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree and/OR relevant library experience. High school graduates with library & technology experience will be considered. Job performance skills are learned through a combination of on-job training, library education, and library work experience.

Overview: Supports the library’s mission by (1) assisting customers in the use of library materials and services; (2) carrying out circulation procedures (3), checking library materials in and out and registering new card holders, and (4) assisting other library staff with variety of library and collection maintenance tasks as assigned.
